Recently, a car owner spent a substantial sum at a 4S dealership to purchase a luxury vehicle, only to discover severe oil leakage from the engine after driving it for less than one kilometer. After unsuccessful negotiations with the dealership, the owner leveraged public attention, sparking widespread online controversy. It’s clear that the uproar stems not merely from the dispute between the owner and the dealership, but from an even more serious issue: transmission oil leakage.

What causes transmission oil leaks? In automotive components such as the transmission, sustained high‑speed operation and temperature fluctuations can significantly increase internal pressure. When the pressure inside the transmission exceeds 30 kPa, the oil seals may fail, leading to fluid leakage.

In response to this situation, the Voir design team conceived solutions from both material and structural perspectives, and, in conjunction with real-world operating conditions, developed a highly reliable ventilation system.

Option One: A threaded pressure relief valve in which a spring‑loaded sealing ring is integrally molded into the metal body. It is airtight under normal conditions; at a specified pressure, the spring compresses, allowing gas to vent.

Option Two: A snap‑on solution designed for use with hoses. For gearboxes without protective shielding, adopting Solution One can lead to damage of the protective components when sand and gravel are ejected, thereby increasing operating costs. In response, Solution Two was developed: a snap‑on design paired with hose‑based protection that effectively prevents abrasive particles from damaging the protective assembly.

Option Three: Threaded fastening installation, with bidirectional ventilation, allows the transmission to “breathe” freely, eliminating the risk of oil leakage. As the industry evolves, protecting the gearbox has eliminated concerns about sand and debris splashing. To further reduce costs and enhance safety, Voir Technology has launched a threaded-component solution, using PA66 material that is oil-resistant and high-temperature tolerant, with an embedded ePTFE oil-proof, breathable membrane for dust protection and easy installation.
